screw the college experience

i have no idea what type of class or how good the school she's at is in whatever subject she may be talking about
so its kind of crapped out as an article without some framed reference to justify her angle

"the college experience"
has for so long outweighed the learning experience
as far as going to college has been a parental priority
especially to those who devalued it as a credential
people of my generation already had enough reason to question and balk the college track
and one would think there would be more addressing straight learning, no social chaser
in the form of evolved technical schools, guild like mentoring, or some form of early apprenticeship by now

the academic system got bloated before i was old enough to get near it and has gained and lost uneven weight like a trend crazed dieter ever since

without some necessary evaluation of quantifiable knowledge
there isn't a reason for strict grading
but then people assuming there are flexible standards in anything less than that which is easily and linearly quantifiable is the problem of people's misperceptions of "art and the arts"
then assume that kirsten dunst's opinion of the function and definition of art is all they will ever need or accept
ah, there really is nothing like someone who decides "art" is useless trimming to statistical data and wholly a masturbatory endeavor, who knowing nothing of art, rolls their eyes overhearing someone claim xsciencetrivia has no effect on their lives--

--the big disconnect

if the point of education is mainly to meet qualifications
this is completely different than learning different ways of thinking and thinking up anything new
and one wonders if these should be segregated even more than they naturally do themselves--
the fact this helps to annihilate the cross pollination of methods and strategies, wide ranges of information available and its new application--
well, it would certainly cut down on the "dissatisfaction"

people should really take time new in college or before to assess what they really want to get out of it. Perhaps an affordable pre-freshman year for people to try and explore the range of what they want and can achieve there instead of becoming so boggled by the accompanying lifestyle change
and then having to earn or be sponsored into higher levels of learning unless on a directed and preset qualification track (which should still just have tests openly available), with variable semester lengths and intensity of classes or a clearer clarification of who is in what class for what reason
the types of things that could only be accomodated by someplace very small, large, or rich.

but here is the big problem:
real teachers are a rare breed
everyone thinks it is some kind of easy
and it is: to "qualify"
doesn't mean they have any talent for it
or dispensing information at all

i've met a lot of teachers at a lot of levels and i can say
most of them suck beyond all sense of physics
talk about a void
